I use two blocks of wood. One under the box :-) we don't want holes in the floors.......the second one inside the box right next to where you want to drill a hole. If you don't use that second block of wood, the bottom of the plastic box will climb up the drill bit and then split.
This is how.......
I scoop out the messes before I pour it into the cleaning boxes.
Before I dump the clean litter back into the litter pan, I spray with whatever it is that you use to kill germs, into the litter box and wipe down. I don't worry about the trace amounts of saw dust in the litter box because it is clean. I no longer have to scrub litter pans in the tub once a week :-) they are clean every day.....

I use a pine based wood stove pellets or pine based horse bedding pellets as litter. I have found it to be the best I can use for my cats. There is no airborne dust to irritate eyes or noses. My cats seem  to be healthier and happy with this litter.I get it at the Agway Store or the Farm and Tractor Store. Do not confuse this with Woody Pet or Wood stove pellets. Both of those products are made up of hard woods.....they do not have the natural ability to take care of odors that pine has. That is another reason why I love it so......can't smell my males anymore . :-)

You can use any two plastic boxes that will fit together, leaving about 2 inches of space between them.
